This past weekend, the Rams traveled to Boulder to face University of Colorado. A hard fought battle Friday October 14th resulted in a tough loss to the Buffalos. With many forces against the Rams, including 12 penalties, two coming from goalie Mackenzie Roberts, the women still battled until the end, but were ultimately outshot 54-16. Their lone goal from Sarina Perret was not enough, and the Rams fell 5-1. With this loss, the Rams came back to Fort Collins ready for another chance to defeat Colorado. The game on Saturday October 15th was equally as physical, but with less penalties. Although still being outshot 45-28, the Rams were able to secure the 5-4 victory. Adding to the score, were goals from Emily Kruger, Kristen Perry, Alicia Ziff and two from Ashley Chase. This specific win was not easy, it shows that the Rams truly bleed green and gold, they never gave up and worked incredibly together.
The team knows the season is just beginning, with bigger and harder games still to come. The third ACHA rankings come out Tuesday October 18th, hopefully the women have showed they are a team that is going to compete and therefore will move up in rankings. From preseason through the second rankings Colorado State has remained 15th in the nation. The Rams have a scrimmage October 23rd against the Colorado Springs Junior Tigers, but their next league game will be held at EPIC on October 30th against Midland. Keep an eye on the Facebook and Twitter for updates.
